Toby was found by Tori on the street near an Oxxo. He is a very friendly little boy and immediately approached her, following her all the way to the store and waited for her outside. Of course Victoria bought him food, and this became her daily routine for a week. Tori met the locals who did what they could to take care of Toby, but unfortunately he was very skinny and covered in fleas and ticks. It was clear that they just do not have the resources to take care of him. From time to time he received his portion of Maruchan soup, but he didn’t have access to clean water, as the caretakers didn’t have access to running water. One day they told her that if she liked the puppy so much, she could keep him, since they’re not able to provide what he needs. So without thinking twice, she took him to the vet for a health check, only to find out that he is sick with heartworm. He needs treatment and he must also complete the entire protocol prior to adoption.

Through Cozumel Humane Society’s Independent Rescue Program, Toby can receive all the treatment he needs for a fraction of what he would pay at a private clinic.

Until today, Toby has been living with Tori, gaining weight, learning to trust and being a happy little dog. He is currently looking for a temporary home, as his rescuer needs to return to Chicago, but we are convinced that Toby will find the home he deserves very soon! He is a boy who loves to have his tummy scratched, and to go for walks. Whoever adopts him can be sure that they’ll be very lucky to have Toby as their faithful companion!

Needs: $8700MX/$525US to cover not only the heartworm treatment, but also for his 4DX test, CBC, Blood Chemistry, complete vaccination protocol, preventatives, and deworming.

Thank You!
